Dr. Sandy Buchaman Collins ’88 is an orthopedic hand surgeon at a level II trauma center in Ft. Myers, Florida. Collins and her colleagues continued taking calls and treating injuries while their community was shut down. She said she and her colleagues are glad to be able to do their part for the community, but reject the hero label. “We do our job, whether it is COVID-19, influenza, SARS, HIV, or HepC. Greater kudos to the nurses,” she said. St. Mary's College is proud of our alumni who are making an impact during these uncertain times. The College would like to share these stories with the community. If you have a story or an alum you know has a story to share, please fill out the COVID-19 Alumni Impact Story Collection Form.
