David Froom, professor of music, visited Harvard for a rehearsal and the Boston premiere performance of his "Petali di Gelsomino" for flute and string orchestra by the Brattle Street Chamber Players (https://www.brattlestreetchamberplayers.com/). This work was originally written as a gift from St. Mary's College of Maryland to Fudan University, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Fudan and the 25th anniversary of the SMCM-Fudan connection. The first performance was in 2005, at Fudan University in Shanghai, conducted by Jeffrey Silberschlag with Giuseppe Nova, flute. The performance was repeated at the River Concert Series the following summer. This work was performed in New York City by North/South Consonance last spring.
