St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s Center for the Study of Democracy is holding a talk by the authors, book sale/signing, and reception for “Republican Populist: Spiro Agnew and the Origins of Donald Trump’s America,” by Charles J. Holden, Zach Messitte, and Jerald Podair, on Monday, Oct. 21 beginning at 4:45 p.m. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
From 4:45-5:45 p.m. two of the authors - Charles J. Holden, professor of history at St. Mary’s College, and Zach Messitte, president of Ripon College, will discuss their new book. A reception and book sale/signing will follow from 5:45 – 6:45 p.m. Both events take place in the Blackistone Room in Anne Arundel Hall on the College’s campus. The cost of the book is $30 including tax. Cash and checks will be accepted.

A joint project of St. Mary’s College of Maryland and Historic St. Mary’s City, The Center for the Study of Democracy, directed by Antonio Ugues Jr. associate professor of political science at St. Mary’s College, explores contemporary and historical issues associated with the ideas of democracy, liberty and justice in national and international contexts. It supports research that enhances our understanding of liberal democracy and its critics.
