Brian will play and discuss 6 short works of Fryderyk Chopin that he has never before performed at SMCM, including the new waltz that was discovered in 2024 at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York. Also on the program will be a work inspired by George Sand's two pet dogs and named for one of them, called "Galop Marquis." Rounding out the program will be a second waltz, an "Album Leaf," the lyrical "Sostenuto," and a transcription by Chopin of one of his songs, entitled "Wiosna," Polish for "Spring."
