St. Mary's College of Maryland announces the appointment of Jayson T. Williams '03 to its Board of Trustees by Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, effective Oct. 21, 2026. Williams is president and CEO of BreakGround Enterprises, a Mid-Atlantic community development firm specializing in real estate development, project management and strategic consulting. He is also founder and CEO of Mayson-Dixon Companies.

“We are pleased to welcome Jayson Williams to the St. Mary's College Board of Trustees,” said Board Chair John J. Bell '95. “His experience in public service, business and community development, together with his connection to the College as an alumnus, brings a valuable perspective to the Board. We look forward to working with him as we continue to advance the College's mission and support the success of our students.”

Raised in West Baltimore, Williams brings extensive experience in government, economic development and entrepreneurship. His work focuses on expanding housing opportunities, supporting small businesses and connecting public and private investment with community needs.

Before entering the private sector, Williams served in roles with U.S. Sens. Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin, Maryland Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. and Prince George's County Executive Rushern L. Baker III.

His civic leadership includes service with the National Aquarium, The Nature Conservancy and Morgan State University's Construction Management Advisory Council. He also serves on the Maryland Building Industry Association's Board of Directors and at the Levindale Hospital, a LifeBridge Health institution.

Williams earned his bachelor's degree in political science, with a minor in environmental studies, from St. Mary's College in 2003. He will serve on the Board's Campus Life Committee and Technology, Buildings, and Grounds Committee.
