Biography

Yiching Christine Liu earned a Ph.D. in Foreign Language and ESL Education from the University of Iowa (2019).  Her scholar interests include second language reading research, Chinese language pedagogy, and technology-enhanced curriculum development in a foreign language classroom. Dr. Liu served as the Newsletter Editor of the national Chinese Language Teachers Association (CLTA) from 2021-2023.  She was also the Technology Curriculum Lead of the STARTALK Intensive Chinese Summer Program in Winston Salem State University in 2021.

Dr. Liu strives to create a variety of opportunities for engaging and meaningful Chinese language learning. She has held online Chinese book clubs to promote extensive reading in Chinese, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. She also initiated the Online Language and Cultural Exchange Project for her students and students in Feng Chia university in Taiwan to promote target language usage and develop their intercultural competence. Her teaching goal is to help her students become happy and motivated learners of Chinese with intercultural competence, who can continue their Chinese learning even after stepping out of her classroom.
