Biography

I am very fortunate to be able to do what I love by combining both of my passions - chemistry and education. One of my goals as an educator is to eliminate the cliché that chemistry is difficult. So, much of my research interests involve making chemistry more accessible to all learners. I particularly am interested in making more authentic augmented reality and virtual reality environments that can serve as either a laboratory experiment or as supplemental material to support instruction. My current focus with instructional technology is representing quantum mechanical modeling using AR.

As a chemist, I am interested in making synthetic methods safer and reducing the impact that experimentation has on the environment. Previous research of mine focused on improving reactions involving explosive diazo carbonyl intermediates through the means of ionic liquids and micro reactors.
