Biography

James Kenney (Senior Judge), Appellate Court of Maryland currently serves on the Maryland Judicial Counsel as Chair of the Senior Judge Committee and is a member of the Judicial Ethics Committee.  He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.  He is a former Chair of the Governmental Regulation of Land Use Committee of the American Bar Association, Real Property Section, and served as an advisor to National Conference on Uniform State Laws on Planned Communities.  He has served on the Governor’s Commission on Condominiums, Cooperatives, and Homeowners Associations, and on Maryland Code Revision Committees, including: Housing and Community Development, Land Use, and Alcoholic Beverages.  He has written for the Real Property, Probate and Trust Journal; Virginia Journal of Natural Resources Law; Peter W. Salsich, Jr.’s, Land Use Regulation; the Community Association Law Reporter; and the American Bar Association Journal.  He serves on the Committee on Laws of the Maryland State Bar Association.  He currently serves on the Judicial Education Subcommittee of Maryland Judicial College, and has presented on Real Property, Land Use, Appellate Practice, and Administrative Law for the Judicial College, the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, and Maryland and American Bar Associations programs.  He currently teaches Law and Society and Religion and the Constitution.
