Biography

Darlene Gentry has over twenty five years experience in instruction and training in martial arts, women's self defense, and self defense education for the public. Darlene teaches self-defense part-time at St. Mary’s College of Maryland where for the past twenty years she has instructed a course that she created called “Self Defense against Sexual Assault.” Darlene is active in the community and has instructed self-defense courses in various venues for women, teens, children and seniors. She is an active member in the International Combat Hapkido Federation, Rape Aggression Defense Systems, Godakai Aikido Club, American Women's Self-Defense Association, and Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Darlene semi-retired from St. Mary's College of Maryland Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in 2009 after twenty-one years of service and teaching first year chemistry lab.
