Dear St. Mary’s College of Maryland Community,
As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and the efficient management of campus resources, the College is currently reviewing and planning a comprehensive upgrade to our overall campus Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure.
To facilitate this transition and establish a uniform, sustainable, and equitable program for all users, all campus-owned EV charging stations will be temporarily powered down effective Tuesday, May 19th until further notice. Please note the status of specific locations during this infrastructure pause:
- Calvert Hall, Lot Z, and Lot H. These campus-managed stations will be offline while we work to upgrade our hardware, software, and payment processing systems.
- SMECO Dual-Port Station: The regional utility-owned station near the Admission Welcome Center will remain fully operational and available for community use under SMECO’s standard hourly utility rates.
We understand that our EV infrastructure is a valued amenity for many students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Our goal during this temporary shutdown is to implement a modernized, reliable network that supports the growing demand for electric vehicles on campus while ensuring responsible stewardship of the College’s utility resources.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through these upgrades. Updates regarding the timeline for the new EV program and the rollout of modernized stations will be shared as they become available.
