On April 17–19, the College Board hosted its Higher Education Symposium on AP Business with Personal Finance in Chicago. The closing session was a panel of invited experts who discussed the benefits and potential trade-offs of adopting and accepting the new AP Business with Personal Finance exam for advanced college credit. Drawing on their direct experience, panelists analyzed the exam's potential impact on higher education institutions, including effects on tuition revenue and key performance indicators such as time to graduation.
Among the invited panelists was Professor Silvio Borrero Caldas, Inaugural William Seale Professor of Business and Chair of the Department of Economics and Business at St. Mary's College of Maryland. Professor Borrero Caldas has been involved in the development of the new AP Business course and exam since its inception, first as a member of the Advisory Board for the AP exam and, over the past two years, as a member of the Evaluation Committee, where he helps develop assessment instruments.
