oin us for another Natural Science and Mathematics Colloquium talk of the spring semester!

Wednesday, March 4th 2026
Schaefer Hall 106 @ 4:45 p.m.

Dr. Brandon Wilfong will give his seminar titled: "Data-driven machine learning approaches to materials discovery."

Brandon completed his Ph.D.  at the University of Maryland focusing on the synthesis and characterization of transition metal superconductors. Following my Ph.D., he completed a postdoctoral position at the United States Naval Academy teaching physics courses and researching novel antiferromagnetic materials for spintronic applications. Following USNA, he completed a postdoctoral position at Johns Hopkins University focusing on exploratory synthesis of quantum materials and the integration of AI/ML approaches to materials development in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. Brandon is now an Assistant Professor of Science at College of Southern Maryland.

This event is free and open to the public. It is meant for a general audience. If you are an instructor, please announce it to your students.
