Update to Campus Weather Status posted Tuesday, Feb. 3, 7 a.m. (www.smcm.edu/snow):
In-person classes and campus operations will resume on a normal schedule starting Tuesday, Feb. 3.
On Monday, Feb. 2, snow and ice falling from a multi-story building caused damage to several parked vehicles due to recent weather conditions and temperature fluctuations. While this type of incident is rare, current conditions increase the likelihood of additional shedding from roofs. Out of an abundance of caution, areas near buildings may be temporarily restricted or marked off. Members of the campus community are asked to:
- Avoid walking or parking directly adjacent to building overhangs and roof edges
- Observe posted signage and barriers
- Use designated walkways where possible
Physical Plant and Public Safety staff are actively monitoring conditions and taking steps to reduce risk. These precautions will remain in place until conditions improve. If you see something, say something. We appreciate your cooperation as we prioritize campus safety.
