As we navigate this week’s winter weather, our priority remains your safety and the continuity of your education (once again: all our thanks to the Facilities team working hard to keep buildings warm, and to Bon Appétit keeping food services running!).
With more snow predicted for the weekend, we are shifting to virtual classes for the period between Thursday, Jan. 29, and Monday, Feb. 2, to keep our semester moving forward. Please note the following schedule changes:
Campus Schedule & Classes
Wednesday, Jan. 28: Campus is closed. No classes will be held.
Thursday, Jan. 29 & Friday, Jan. 30: Classes will transition to virtual learning. Please review your email for information from your individual instructors regarding this shift.
Monday, Feb. 2: Expect classes to be virtual. We will send a final confirmation by midday Sunday, Feb. 1 if a return to in-person classes becomes possible.
Important Academic Guidelines
We recognize that weather emergencies create challenges with power, internet stability, and travel. To support you, we have provided the following guidance to faculty:
Attendance Flexibility: If you cannot join a live Zoom session due to technical issues or power outages, you will not be penalized.
No in-class required work: There will be no in-class work that would impact your grade during these virtual days.
Monday-only classes and labs: If you have a Monday-only class or lab, your instructor may try to reschedule it for Friday, Feb 6. Please watch for the instructor’s specific updates.
What You Should Do Now
Check your email and LMS (Blackboard Ultra, Google Classroom, etc.) regularly in the days ahead for links and instructions from your individual professors.
Monitor your inbox on Sunday for further updates regarding Monday’s schedule and potential optional make-up opportunities later this semester.
And of course, Stay Safe! Avoid unnecessary travel across campus while surfaces remain icy.
Thank you for your patience and resilience as we make our way through these conditions together.
