UPDATE 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27
Due to continued hazardous conditions on campus, the College will remain closed on Wednesday, Jan. 28. Essential employees should report at their designated times. See below for instructions for other employees.
Plans are underway to conduct classes remotely on Thursday and Friday, Jan. 29 - 30, and depending on weather conditions emerging over the weekend, possibly on Monday, Feb. 2 as well. Academic Affairs will provide additional information for faculty and students for remote class meeting procedures.
The Physical Plant staff continues to clear walkways and parking lots; however, a number of areas are unable to be cleared due to cold temperatures. In addition, falling snow and ice from trees and rooftops remains a concern. Consequently, events and activities that cannot be conducted remotely are cancelled through Friday, Jan. 30.
The Great Room will be open for all students, regardless of whether you have a meal plan. Essential staff will also have access to the Great Room at no cost during working hours. Hours for Wednesday are as follows:
Brunch 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Lite Lunch 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Dinner 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Grab and Go @ Solomon's Kitchen Closed
Brew’d Awakening Closed
The Michael P. O’Brien Athletics & Recreation Center (MPOARC) will observe limited hours (check www.smcm.edu/snow for hours) on Wednesday, Jan. 28 for students only. Students are advised to use caution when traveling to the MPOARC.
Staff Instructions
Exempt, non-bargaining unit employees should shift to remote work where possible from Wednesday, Jan. 28, through Friday, Jan. 30, and depending on weather conditions emerging over the weekend, possibly on Monday, Feb. 2 as well. Vice presidents will provide guidance to supervisors within their divisions to determine appropriate remote work requirements for their staff.
Exempt bargaining unit staff are expected to perform work that can be accomplished remotely.
Non-exempt staff who perform work, for example, checking voicemails, routing emails and answering questions by telephone and online are to keep a log of work performed. Employees in this category will receive overtime and accrue the administrative time used.
