Students for Justice are excited to host an event with the first all-female Dabke troupe in the DMV (Delaware, Maryland & Virginia area). Dabke is an energetic Palestinian folk dance representing cultural identity, unity and resistance. It is characterized by synchronized stomping, hopping, and kicking in a line or circle, while the dancers hold hands or shoulders and rhythmically move. Often performed at weddings and festivals, Dabke is central to most Palestinian celebrations. Come join the celebration on February 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Daugherty-Palmer Commons (DPC). Explore Palestinian culture through a vibrant performance, informative lecture and authentic cuisine from Mezeh.
