A wooden plaque titled "Joe Carroll Memorial Award" displays engraved nameplates in several rows, with some blank spaces.

Do you know someone who has provided outstanding service of commitment to the College and their community, is a great leader, and a team player?

Please consider nominating a deserving non-exempt staff for the annual Joe Carroll Award.

Joe Carroll

Joe Carroll, a 20-year member of our house-keeping staff, died on July 17, 2011, at age 66. In his memory, the Joe Carroll Memorial Award was created by faculty and staff. This award recognizes non-exempt staff members who exemplify Joe’s commitment to the campus community. The award was first made at Awards Convocation on April 27, 2012. Joe showed an immeasurable amount of dedication and impeccable service to our community and his spirit still resonates in our work.

Nominees should be rated as exemplary in the areas of:

  • Accomplishments
  • Community Impact
  • Commitment and Dependability
  • Teamwork and Leadership

Since the award was created in the image of an outstanding long-term employee, extra consideration will be given for length of service to the College.

Please note: awardees are selected on the strength of their nominating qualifications-not the number of submitted forms.

Please fill out this form and submit no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026. The award will be presented at the Awards Convocation.

If you have questions please contact ecstaffsenate@smcm.edu. Thank you for helping us recognize and celebrate members of our SMCM community!
