Eva Maria holds a BSc in Biotechnology and MSc in Natural Resource Sciences. As an undergraduate, she investigated the use of methylpentose rich macroalgae as feedstock for microbial production of propylene glycol. In graduate school she worked in the Scully/Örlygsson Lab investigating thermophilic alcohol dehydrogenases and their use as enantioselective resolution agents. She continues to be involved in microbial biotechnology research with emphasis on production of  chemical building blocks. She joined UNAK’s Faculty of Natural Resource Sciences as an adjunct lecturer in 2023.
