A four-step timeline for the Key Into Public Service program, detailing application dates from November 2025 to a conference in June 2026, with icons and the U.S. Capitol in the background.

The Phi Beta Kappa Society, the nation’s most prestigious academic honor society, is now accepting online applications for the Key into Public Service scholarship. The program connects undergraduate arts and sciences majors with pathways into local, state, and federal government service. In recognition of the Society's 250th anniversary in 2026, 20 undergraduate scholars will receive a $7,600 academic scholarship and participate in an educational conference experience in Washington, D.C., that will provide them with training, mentoring, and resources on pathways into public service careers. Phi Beta Kappa membership is not required, but students must attend a Phi Beta Kappa chapter institution, have an anticipated graduation date of Fall/Winter 2026 through Spring 2026, and have a minimum 3.5 GPA.

Characteristics of ideal recipients include intellectual curiosity, breadth and depth in arts and sciences coursework, leadership propensity, and service to others. Interested students can learn more and apply online until January 20, 2026, at PBK.org/ServiceScholarsApp.

If faculty/staff know of any students who might be interested, please help us spread the word on social media with readymade content from the Society’s Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram feeds. See ready made promotional resources (sample newsletter blurbs, social media posts, graphics, etc.) If you have any questions about these materials or would like access to editable graphics, please reach out to Delainey Boyd-Whaley.
