St. Mary's College of MD Musician-in-Residence Brian Ganz will continue his popular PianoTalk series at the college on Tuesday, October 28 at 11:20am with a free PianoTalk featuring Fryderyk Chopin's Scherzo No. 3 in C-sharp minor, Op. 39. The program, which will take place in the recital hall of the Dodge Performing Arts Center on the college campus, is entitled “CHOPIN'S IRIDESCENT RAIN: Scherzo No. 3 in C-sharp minor, Op. 39.” Ganz will offer an in-depth discussion of the scherzo and then perform it in its entirety. For more information call (240) 895-4229.

"Chopin 3rd Scherzo is among his most scintillating works," said pianist Ganz. "There is a repeating rippling cascade of notes that virtually tickles the ear with pleasure. The closest I can come to describing this cascade is that it sounds like rain shimmering with iridescent colors," Ganz continued. "Instead of the rainbow forming in the sky, the rainbow is contained within the rain itself. Imagine how that would sound and you have an idea of the magic of this piece. There is also a musical representation of rebirth in this scherzo that is as full of hope as anything in the piano literature.”

Come share the magic and hope of this remarkable piece!
