Audience
The jazz ensemble audition materials for this semester are downloadable through the link at the bottom. You all will be learning measures 1-42 for the audition. Some instruments will have auditions on the same parts (so even if you play alto 2 you audition on the alto 1 part, same for trumpets, ect...) we'll assign official part numbers based on the audition. Anyone playing flute can play the Alto 1 part as written for the audition. I will also ask for 2 major scales ideally at least 2 octaves. The audition will take place on Wednesday, September 3rd from 6:10-7:25pm in room 221 of DPAC.
I highly recommend all of you take private lessons this semester as well! We have fabulous adjunct instructors for each instrument! I also personally teach jazz piano.
If you have interest and/or experience in improvisation then I would love to hear a 12 bar blues in Bb or F during the audition. If you don't know what that is and want to improvise during the audition, learn by next Wednesday!
