Although we're still processing donations and awaiting results from other Giving Tuesday contests like the Alumni Council Challenge, we're excited to share the results of one cherished on-site tradition - The Allan Challenge!
For those who may have missed it amid the flurry of social media posts and emails during our 32-hour Giving Tuesday event, the Allan Challenge is made possible by Allan Wagaman ’06, past president of the Alumni Association. For the past three years, Allan has generously offered $2,500 to one lucky student for their favorite SMCM fund.
On Giving Tuesday, students entered the competition by donating a non-perishable food item to Solomon's Shoppe, signing 25 thank you cards to donors, or making a donation of at least $10.
Last Friday, in an exciting ceremony during the SAGE students' final meeting of the semester, the winner was drawn at random at the Alumni Center at Cobb House. That winner is the SMCM Veggie Co-op, thanks to their advocate, Lannon Fritts '25!
Thank you to the 234 students who participated in this year's Allan Challenge, and congratulations to Lannon and the Veggie Co-op.
With just one vote cast for the Co-op, their victory is a powerful reminder that it only takes one to make an impact. You must play to win, and one vote can do big things!
We can’t wait to check back in with the Veggie Co-op to see what they cook up in 2025 with their $2,500 prize.
Stay tuned for the Alumni Council Challenge results in the coming weeks!
