July is UV Awareness Month when Americans are encouraged to take precautions to protect themselves from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation while outdoors. UV is the root cause of most skin cancers and following three simple steps while outdoors can help minimize the risk:

  • Seek shade when appropriate

  • Wear sun-protective clothing

  • Apply a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher

  • FREE sunscreen samples are available in the Wellness Center lobby for students/faculty/staff
