St. Mary's College of Maryland has appointed Amir Mohammadi as the interim vice president for business and chief financial officer, effective February 28, 2024.

Mohammadi has most recently served as the senior vice president for administration, global engagement, economic development and chief innovation officer for Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. In his 40-year career, Mohammadi has held executive-level positions in finance, administration, advancement and student affairs at Delaware State University, West Virginia University and Adelphi University. He has also served on a number of boards, most notably with the Sustainability Advisory Panel of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), of which he served as the elected chair for four years.

"Dr. Mohammadi's wealth of experience will be extremely beneficial to the College in the coming months," said Tuajuanda C. Jordan, PhD, president of St. Mary's College of Maryland.  "He has developed an excellent relationship with our business and finance team and is exceptionally well-suited to join the College's Executive Council in this essential transitional role."

Mohammadi has also served as a senior advisor to the chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, acting as a strategic advisor to several system presidents and conducting a comprehensive review of academic programs to develop a new strategic direction. His achievements have included the development of a $2 million cooperative agreement with a Chinese university, creation of a university economic development office that generated 150 paid student internships and identifying millions of dollars in operational savings for the universities he served.

Over the past month, Mohammadi has served as a consultant to our Division of Business and Finance, assisting with the College's most recent audit and advising division staff on process development and operations in several key areas.
