St. Mary’s College of Maryland Performing Arts Program  is proud to present

Let Me Down Easy by Anna Deavere Smith.

Directed by guest director and alum A. Lorraine Robinson ’92

Anna Deavere Smith originally created and performed this collection of twenty verbatim monologues over a decade ago as a one-person docudrama about the miracle of human fortitude in the context of the national debate on healthcare. She has said that it is about “the power of the body, the cost of care and the resilience of
the spirit.” Based on over 300 interviews, Smith’s play and its exploration of the remarkable experience of having a human body that fails, heals, and connects us with others perhaps resonates even more strongly today. Guest director A. Lorraine Robinson directs an ensemble of SMCM students in this multi-person production.
