The Center for the Study of Democracy and the St. Mary's County Historical Society present "Historically Speaking" on Thursday, November 3, 2022. The program will explore how our understanding of racial identity has changed over time. Of what does this change consist? How does it happen? What are the implications for communities and for social interaction?
Panelists include Dr. Philip Levy, Professor of History, University of South Florida and SMCM faculty Dr. Garrey Dennie, Associate Professor of History and Dr. Julie King, Professor of Anthropology. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Antonio Ugues, Jr., Associate Professor of Political Science and Director of the Center for the Study of Democracy.
A pre-talk reception will be held at 6 pm before the program at 7 pm. Both activities will be held in the Daugherty-Palmer Commons on campus. The event is free and open to the public but seating is limited so registration is encouraged. Visit www.stmaryshistory.org to register
