Wanda Sykes

Wanda was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, and raised in Maryland. Her stand-up career began at a Coors Light Super Talent Showcase in Washington, DC, where she performed for the first time in front of a live audience. Sykes has performed many stand-up shows that have won many critically acclaimed awards. On November 15th 2008, at a pro-gay marriage rally in Las Vegas, Sykes came out as gay. At that rally, she also officially announced for the first time that she has a wife, to whom she married on October 25, 2008. In 2010, she won a GLAAD award for promoting a good image of equal rights for LGBT people.
