Princess Diana engaged in extensive charity work for a wide variety of causes. During her marriage to Prince Charles, she served as President for over a hundred charities focused on helping children and the homeless. She was one of the first public figures to address the issue of HIV/AIDS. During this time, people were scared to even touch people with HIV or Aids, but Princess Diana did not shy away from those in need. She was often seen embracing or shaking hands with those infected with HIV. In 1990, she gave a speech encouraging everyone to shake a hand or give a hug to someone with AIDS. Princess Diana’s other work included bringing awareness to post-war landmines and the maiming/killing of innocent civilians due to these unexploded devices.

Even after her divorce from Prince Charles, she remained actively engaged in charitable works and was a revered figure the world over. When Princess Diana unfortunately died, the world grieved with over 2.5 billion people watching her funeral. Long after her death, Princess Diana is a beloved figure as her kids Prince Harry and Williams continue their mother's work.
