What is Environmental Justice?

Environmental justice is the fair treatment of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, and/or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. As we continue our fight against structural racism in Maryland in defense of Black lives, it is crucial that we recognize the environmental toxins and harms that communities of color have long been exposed to purposefully.
