- Nov. 20, 2026 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Since last spring, the Office of Career Development and Community Engagement has partnered with Call Signs Bar and Grill to present the Science in the Pub series. Science in the Pub offers St. Mary's College faculty an opportunity to present their research to the public in a relaxed, engaging environment.
The series also highlights the breadth of local research, including the "hard" sciences at a liberal arts institution. The program runs from 4:30 p.m. to about 5:30 p.m. on the third Friday of each month, except December, January, and March, and concludes in May. November's presenter will be Dr. Matt Breece, Assistant Professor of Marine Science, who will be presenting a talk entitled "Where are sturgeon going? Using acoustic telemetry and satellite data to predict where and when sturgeon are occurring to create avoidance strategies in the coastal mid-Atlantic." The talk will provide background on sturgeon and discuss how researchers use the latest technology to study them.
