Asst. Prof. Ortega Presents at LSA Conference

Assistant Professor Jeannine Ortega attended the Latinx Studies Association Conference (LSA) at the University of Texas at Austin on March 26-29. The conference brought together students, artists, writers, filmmakers and community activists whose work is dedicated to supporting understanding and engaging issues relevant to Latino/a/x/e people in the U.S. Ortega presented "Learning What's Haunting You: AfroLatinidad and Horror Stories as Subversive Pedagogies." Ortega has a forthcoming chapter, "Latinx Joy and the Queer Brujo: How Aiden Thomas's 'Cemetery Boys' Challenges Latino/a Adolescence" to be published in "Genealogies of Joy: The Pleasure of Latinx Literature," edited by Leigh Johnson and Erin Murrah-Mandril.
