Recent St. Mary's College of Maryland graduate Allison Thress '26 has been accepted to the Peace Corps. She will serve in The Gambia as a primary education teacher trainer, working alongside local teachers to refine teaching strategies.

A Spanish major with a minor in art, Thress spent three semesters studying abroad in Grenada, Spain and Costa Rica. Earlier this spring, Thress was recognized as an alternate to Colombia for an English Teaching Assistant position with the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Her applications to both programs were supported by Professor Jennifer Cognard-Black, the inaugural director of the College's National Fellowships and Awards Office.
