SMCM librarians, staff, and student present at symposium

Assistant librarians Stephanie Reyes and Haley Galloway, ILL & acquisitions technician Elisia Lewis (‘25), and student employee Brynn Desmond (‘25) presented at the Association of College and Research Libraries New York Symposium on December 5, 2025. This year’s symposium theme was Pleasure and Play: Finding Joy in LIS Work based on adrienne maree brown’s book Pleasure Activism: The Politics of Feeling Good.

Stephanie, Haley, Elisia, and Brynn presented their work on and reflections about the collaborative project created for Black History Month highlighting spaces in Maryland dedicated to preserving and showcasing Black History. The talk detailed the joy in co-creating with students to create a meaningful and student interest driven project.
