As part of the Amɘrica Dialogue Series, Pier-Philippe Chevigny's film Richelieu (2023) will be screened, followed by a discussion with the director. This film delves into the brutal treatment of temporary foreign workers at a food processing plant in Richelieu, Quebec, and powerfully explores a pressing social issue. The fictional plot is inspired by the real stories of numerous Guatemalan farm workers who participated in Canada’s Temporary Worker Visa program.

Pier-Philippe Chevigny is a Canadian film director and screenwriter from Quebec. His debut film, Richelieu, had its world premiere in the 2023 Tribeca Festival's International Competition.

The Amɘrica Dialogue project brings together critical voices and perspectives from scholars, activists, artists, and communities across the Américas. Our goal is to amplify underrepresented voices and experiences that reflect the different realities of this continent.  We are committed to revealing the rich history, stories, and realities of diverse communities across America. This project seeks to consider the Americas as a broad system of exchange, movement, and influence that goes beyond national borders.
