Executive Director of Career Development and Community Engagement
Biography
Caroline King is the Executive Director of the Office of Career Development and Community Engagement, established in 2026 through the consolidation of the Center for Career and Professional Development and the Office of Community Outreach and Engagement. Caroline has spent the past 20 years serving the Southern Maryland community in various capacities. Before joining St. Mary's College of Maryland, she was a Program Director at Southern Maryland Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D), a nonprofit organization focused on land conservation, natural resources, and community development projects. She has also worked as an attorney for NAVAIR at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, an editor for a regional magazine, and an adjunct instructor at the College. Having worked in the government, small business, nonprofit, and higher education sectors, she brings a breadth of professional experience to her role.
Outside the office, Caroline serves on the Board of Directors for the Lexington Park Business Association and the Executive Committee for the St. Mary's County NAACP. She has served on several civic boards for St. Mary's County government, the Southern Maryland Youth Orchestra & Choir board, and the St. Mary's College of Maryland Institutional Review Board. She's volunteered with St. Mary's Parish, CASA of Southern Maryland, SMCPS and various youth sports leagues, and held leadership positions in local politics.
Caroline has a bachelor's degree from University of Maryland and a law degree from University of Baltimore. She is a member of the Leadership Southern Maryland Class of 2026.
