In a chapter of "Neuroendocrinology of Behavior and Emotions," part of the acclaimed Springer Nature Masterclass in Neuroendocrinology series, Assistant Professor Daniel J. Tobiansky and Professor J. Jordan Price explore the role hormones play in the coordinated songs of birds and other animals. Their work, "Neuroendocrine Modulation of Coordinated Acoustic Signals," provides a comprehensive review of how hormonal signals in the brain enable birds—and potentially other species—to synchronize their songs in nature's own symphony.

Through their examination of the effects of "sex" steroids (e.g., estrogens and androgens), the chapter illuminates the biological orchestra that makes such complex communication possible, advocating for a broader understanding that includes both male and female perspectives in these acoustic performances.

Published online on 23 March 2024, this chapter enriches our appreciation of the natural world's intricacies and sets the stage for future explorations into the universal language of sound.
