Adjunct Harp Instructor Rebecca Anstine Smith performed with organist Michael Lodico, Jr. at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, S.C. Smith's duo, The Lafayette Square Duo, was invited for the second time to perform a recital in the L'Organo Series, where they played the world premiere of Peter Mathew's “Passacaille,” a commission that the American Harp Society awarded to Smith last summer. The composer coached the duo in April at St. John's Church, Lafayette Square, D.C., where Lodico serves as director of music and organist. Mathews also attended the world premiere, much to the delight of the performers and audience. In addition, Smith and Lodico played works by Bach, Franck, Pinkham and Canadian composer, Rachel Laurin. Both the duo and Mathews received a standing ovation at the concert's end.
