Assistant Librarians Haley Galloway and Stephanie Reyes presented a poster titled “Nearpod as a Community-Building Tool in One-Shot Library Sessions” at MD Tech Connect on December 11, 2025. MD Tech Connect is a program that explores the intersection of technology and libraries within the state of Maryland, supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act Administered by the Maryland State Library Agency. This year’s theme was “Technology as a Community Building Tool.” Galloway and Reyes' poster explored their work using a predominantly K-12 education tool within a college classroom; how to bridge challenges that instruction librarians face when teaching “one-shot” sessions; and how Nearpod can address these pain points through universal design features, gathering assessment data points, and building rapport with students.
