Associate Professor of History Garrey Dennie is Invited Panelist of OAS

Associate Professor of History Garrey Dennie is an invited panelist on March 24 for a special edition of “A Chat with the OAS,” a virtual, live event organized by the Organization of American States (OAS) as part of the VI Inter-American Week for People of African Descent in the Americas. Established in 2018, the Inter-American Week for People of African Descent in the Americas has as its mission to foster reflection on the socio-economic issues faced by people of African descent as well as to laud their contributions to the development of the Americas.

The panel, which includes Dennie, Professor Rose Marie Belle Antoine (Univ. of the West Indies) and Professor John Herlyn Antón Sánchez (Universidad Amawtay Wasi, Ecuador), will address this topic: “Decolonizing Education in the Americas: Mainstreaming Policies and Practices that Engender Pride in African Heritage and Identity.” The virtual, live event, beginning at 2 p.m. EDT, is free but registration is required.
