Cassie Gurbisz, assistant professor of environmental studies, has co-authored an article titled, “Data synthesis for environmental management: A case study of the Chesapeake Bay,” published in volume 321 of the Journal of Environmental Management. The article reflects on the collaborative process of a project focused on better understanding bay grass loss and recovery in the Chesapeake Bay. A team of scientists and environmental managers worked together on the project. One of their key findings was that reducing nitrogen and phosphorus inputs to the Bay helped fuel recent bay grass recoveries, demonstrating the positive impacts of environmental management. Gurbisz served on the team as a freshwater bay grass expert. Read more.
