Join us on Monday, Jan. 20 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., as we honor the legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. through meaningful community service. This year’s theme, “Remembering Our History to Reclaim Our Destiny,” calls us to reflect on the lessons of the past and take action to build a brighter future.

Participants will have the opportunity to volunteer at one of five incredible host sites for 2-3 hours:

  • Building Bridges Corp: Assist with facilitating learning workshops for students in St. Mary's County Public Schools.
  • Southern Maryland Center for Independent Living (SMCIL): Organizing and maintaining office spaces and assembling a small outdoor storage shed (weather permitting) may require heavy and overhead lifting.
  • Historic St. Mary’s City: Outdoor site clean-up activities.
  • Maryland Diaper Bank: Wrapping diapers and preparing postpartum care packages.
  • Patuxent Habitat for Humanity: Volunteers are needed to assist with receiving, cleaning, and pricing donations; organizing and restocking shelves; helping customers find items; and performing tasks that may involve heavy lifting and overhead work.

This event is an excellent chance to make a tangible difference in the community while earning volunteer hours. Whether it’s assisting those in need, supporting local organizations, or preserving our shared history, your contributions will help reclaim the vision of equity and justice that Dr. King dreamed of.

Sign up now to be part of this impactful day! Together, let’s honor the past, serve in the present, and shape the future.
