Dr. Ikizler came to St. Mary's after completing her doctoral internship at the University of Maryland Counseling Center in 2016. Her research focuses on the link between various forms of oppressive experiences (e.g., ethnic discrimination) and mental health outcomes among marginalized groups, with a special interest in Arab/Middle Eastern Americans, sexual minorities (e.g., LGBQ), and Muslim mental health. Issues pertaining to intersectionality are also central to Dr. Ikizler’s research.
