Assistant Professor of Biology

Biography
Research in Abby E. Beatty’s lab explores two intersecting questions:
- How do molecular and endocrine mechanisms regulate life-history traits across vertebrate systems?
- How can inclusive, context-driven biology education improve learning outcomes and engagement for all students?
However work in her lab has also extended to topics such as:
- How protein supplementation impacts muscle generation and sprint speed in lizards.
- Testosterone variation and antagonistic behaviors in female lizards.
- A literature based review of artificial intelligence in modern surgical techniques.
- A historical and field based survey of Chytrid in Southern Maryland amphibian populations.
- The regulation of Heat Shock Proteins in invasive lizards across latitudinal gradients.
