Assistant Professor of Biology

Biography

Research in Abby E. Beatty’s lab explores two intersecting questions:

  1. How do molecular and endocrine mechanisms regulate life-history traits across vertebrate systems?
  2. How can inclusive, context-driven biology education improve learning outcomes and engagement for all students?

However work in her lab has also extended to topics such as:

  • How protein supplementation impacts muscle generation and sprint speed in lizards.
  • Testosterone variation and antagonistic behaviors in female lizards.
  • A literature based review of artificial intelligence in modern surgical techniques.
  • A historical and field based survey of Chytrid in Southern Maryland amphibian populations.
  • The regulation of Heat Shock Proteins in invasive lizards across latitudinal gradients.
