Marilyn Hucek '14 is an American-Chilean up-and-coming artist and singer-songwriter whose raw and edgy style has drawn comparisons to Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morissette and Kacey Musgraves. Her musical career began with gigs around the DMV and appearances on local radio and television, to a national and international stage, including the Takoma Park Folk Festival, Folk Alliance Festival in Montreal, as well as appearances in New York and Los Angeles. Her two EPs and numerous singles have garnered more than four million plays on platforms such as Pandora and Apple Music, with her debut self-titled album, MARILYN, coming soon.
Hucek has attended prestigious music academy, the Los Angeles Academy for Artists and Music Production (LAAMP), co-founded by Stargate and executive directed by Chris Anokute. Beyond the music, she is active in causes such as the global non-profit Women in Music and Alzheimer's Association, where she hosts an annual Music for Memories fundraiser in honor of her late father, who battled early-onset Alzheimer's.
If you're on campus, look for Hucek, who has performed at events such as the Governor's Cup Yacht Race and the Almost Alumni Picnic. Follow her on Instagram, Spotify, YouTube or on her website.
