Leo Boucher ’22 (West River, Md.) successfully defended his 2018 title as Middle-Atlantic Men's Singlehanded Champion by winning the Carl Van Duyne Trophy, Sept. 21-22 at the United States Naval Academy.  Boucher bested the 18-boat field over fourteen races held mostly in moderate sea breeze conditions.  The victory qualifies the 2018-2019 St. Mary's College of Maryland Athlete of the Year to represent the Middle-Atlantic Conference at the Inter-Collegiate Men's Singlehanded National Championships to be held at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Nov. 8-10.  Boucher finished second place at the national championships one year ago—St. Mary’s College's best ever finish in this discipline.
