Biography
Teresa Filbert served in the public schools of both Baltimore City and Baltimore County in several roles, including social studies teacher, reading specialist for grades kindergarten through nine, central office resource teacher, assistant principal, and principal. She also taught night classes in reading instruction for high school students and older adults. Her higher education experience included adjunct teaching in Baltimore area colleges and a position at UMBC as the director for professional development schools in the Department of Education. Dr. Filbert came to St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 2010 as a member of the Educational Studies Department where she teaches courses on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her most recent work involves the initiation of a summer camp for local public school students; graduate students in the M.A.T. serve as camp teachers/counselors.
