Public Safety Officer
Biography
David Turner began his tour of duty with Public Safety in August of 2010. He served as a Dispatcher until 2018, and received certifications as a Public Safety Telecommunicator and Communications Training Officer. He provided communications and dispatch training for other dispatch staff, student employees, and new officers, updated the communications training process, and performed multiple administrative duties as well. In 2018, he transitioned into the role of a patrol officer, and is assigned to the evening shift (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) patrol squad. Officer Turner is certified as a Crisis Intervention Team Coordinator, serves as a Field Training Officer, and is a member of IACLEA and a participant in the College and University Police and Investigators Conference. He is an instructor for Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid, First Aid for Severe Trauma, and the ALERRT Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events course. Outside of Public Safety, Ofc. Turner fills the role of staff advisor for the SMCM Outdoor Adventure Club.
