Emma Sheppard is currently a Junior at St. Mary's College of Maryland pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in environmental studies and Spanish with a minor in computer science. She grew up in rural Cecil County, Maryland where she always enjoyed outdoor activities such as hiking and kayaking. She states that spending so much time outside growing up caused her to cultivate an immense love and respect for nature. She hopes to pursue a career in the Department of Natural Resources where she can work to ensure a sustainable future for our environment by protecting the planet's natural resources for all future generations.

Throughout my experience in the climate inquiry, I have learned a lot not only about the climate but about ways we can slow climate change and protect our planet. I plan to pursue a career related to this inquiry, so in order to continue my climate-related studies I will continue to learn about the environment through my future career, and through further education. After graduating from St. Mary's College, I hope to be able to continue my education and pursue a Master's or Ph.D. in a concentrated environmental studies field. Fields that I have looked into studying are forestry and botany, however, I still have time before my graduation to look into other graduate programs.
