A St. Mary’s College of Maryland staffer has garnered two distinguished recognitions in as many years for the work he’s done for students and peers in the career and professional development arena.
Professional Pathways Director Michael Dunn earned a Presidential Citation in recognition of outstanding service provided to the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers (EACE) in the 2023-24 year at the organization's annual conference that took place the week of June 16.
Dunn served on the organization's professional development committee for the past year.
Of the 392 who attended the conference, Dunn was one of only 18 to receive such a citation.
While at the conference, Dunn also led a presentation titled, “AI and Career Services: Opportunities and Questions,” to approximately 90 career services professionals and employers.
"It's a real privilege to represent St. Mary's College and share the great work we do with the EACE community. The conference was a really fun and inspiring experience and I'm happy to work with our incredible team to support the Professional Pathways program and the CCPD as a whole,” Dunn said.
Dunn has been with the College’s Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) for two years and EACE has taken notice of the innovative work he and his SMCM colleagues have carried out.
CCPD staff were awarded the 2023 Excellence in Program Development & Innovation Award last year, honoring the Professional Pathways (CORE-P) program.
The Professional Pathways program is included in the College’s Learning through Experiential and Applied Discovery (LEAD) Initiative and its courses are a robust sequence of career-readiness classes that are required of all new students. These courses are designed and implemented by CCPD staff. Dunn is leading efforts to bolster the learning outcomes and assessment measures of these courses, and to incorporate innovative best practices and career-readiness competencies from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
