By David Froom
Professor of Music David Froom's latest composition, "Hidden Motives," has just been published by American Composers Edition. He has been invited to speak about his new work at the University of Maryland, College Park on Oct. 11. The premiere performance of this work will take place on Saturday, Oct. 20, 5 p.m. at the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM). His work was commissioned for the 21st Century Consort (SAAM's New-Music Group-in-Residence) to connect to an exhibition at SAAM of work by Trevor Paglan (a connection that inspired the title "Hidden Motives"). The concert is free of charge, and includes a pre-concert talk at 4 p.m. in which Froom will participate.
